- I study how people hear. I am generally fascinated by why things sound the way they do.

- My research interests lie at the intersection of human vision and machine vision. I am interested in understanding how humans perceive material properties of objects and surfaces i.e. how do people recognize the stuff that things are made of. Using psychophysics, we measure what humans can perceive about materials in the real world. We also build computational models that operate on images, in order to understand how humans (or a machine) might recognize materials.
