The Perceptual Science Group is led by four professors in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT
Edward Adelson, John and Dorothy Wilson Professor of Vision Science, focuses on topics in human and machine vision, including mid-level vision, motion analysis, perceptual organization, and image data compression.
Ruth Rosenholtz, Principal Research Scientist, is investigating human vision; particularly visual attention and visual searches. The results of her research apply to user interface design and information visualization. For example, people find what they want faster when internet search results include thumbnails enhanced to include keywords that are highlighted and enlarged.
Aude Oliva, Principal Research Scientist, is investigating human vision; particularly visual attention and visual searches. The results of her research apply to user interface design and information visualization. For example, people find what they want faster when internet search results include thumbnails enhanced to include keywords that are highlighted and enlarged.
Whitman Richards, Principal Research Scientist, is investigating human vision; particularly visual attention and visual searches. The results of her research apply to user interface design and information visualization. For example, people find what they want faster when internet search results include thumbnails enhanced to include keywords that are highlighted and enlarged.
